1. Anga

LOCATION:Near Bhagalpur, Bihar on river Ganga and Champa

CAPITAL : Champa (Ancient name Malini)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :Merchants sailed from Champa to Suvarnabhumi (South East Asia) .   Important trade centre.

2. Magadha

LOCATION: Land between Patna and Gaya(Bihar)

CAPITAL : Rajgirha /Patliputra/Girivraja

LOCATION: North of Ganga in trihut division.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :This republican stae was a confederacy of nine clans including those of the videhans ,lichhavis,jnatrikas,vajjis etc.Lord Mahavira belongs to jnatrikas.

6.Vatsa

LOCATION: On the bank of river Yamuna

CAPITAL: Kaushambi (on the confluence of Ganag and Yamuna near Alahbad)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Kurus of Bharatas were migrated to Vatsa. Udayan, the most powerful king had a strong passion for catching Elephant. He has shown as Legendry hero in Sanskrit dramas. It was known for Cotton Textile.

7.Mallas

LOCATION: Border of Bihar & UP

CAPITAL: Pavapury (Bihar), Kushinara Gorakhpur (UP).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The two capitals are famous centres of Budhism. Bhuddha took his last meal and was taken ill at Pavapury and went for his Mahaparinirwana at Kushinara.

8.Avanti

LOCATION: Central Malwa

CAPITAL: North Avanti-Ujjain, South Avanti- Mahesmati

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: According to Budhism tradition Chanda Pradyota was the king of Anavti.

9.Kuru

LOCATION : Western UP

CAPITAL : Indraprasth

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Famous ruler were Koravya, Isukara and Kuru. Who had matrimonial relation with Yadavas, Bhojas and Panchalas.

10.Panchalas

LOCATION: Modern Badaun and Farrukhabad (western UP)

CAPITAL: Northen capital- Ahichachhara(Bareli),Southern capital – Kampilya( Farrukhabad)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The city of Kannauj was situated in Panchala.The king mentioned in Ramayana was Chulanibrahmadutta.

11.Cheti or chedi

LOCATION: Eastern Bundelkhand

CAPITAL : Suktimati 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: According to Puranic tradition King Shishupala was an ally of Jarasand of Magadha.He was a rival of Lord Krishna. Who was his uncle son. He was killed by Lord Krishna. Kharvelas Hanthigunfa inscription suggest that a branch of Chedis founded a Royal dynasty in Kalinga.

12. Matasya

LOCATION: Jaipur, Alwar & Bharatpur Region (Rajasthan)

CAPITAL : Virat Nagar (Bairat)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: King Sahaja and Virat was famous. They ruled over a part of chedis.

13. Surasena

LOCATION: Western UP

CAPITAL: Mathura

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Its king Avanti Putra was one of the disciples of Budha.

14.Gandhara
